Espinar, 13 June 2012
Tintaya reaffirms its permanent willingness to dialogue, in line with the commitments undertaken to date, to promote the development of Espinar. We believe it is important for authorities to take part in this dialogue process.
Our actions have always sought to facilitate the understanding and social peace that we all desire, with full respect for human rights.
In the past, the various political, social and economic players of Espinar resolved our differences through Dialogue Tables, which overtime have been strengthened and consolidated as alternative channels for seeking consensus. A clear example is the current Development Table, which was formed by farming communities, NGOs and our company.
Tintaya reaffirms its commitment and willingness to take part in all the environmental studies that may be required in the Espinar province, in a participatory manner and in full compliance with the legislation in force, to address the population’s legitimate concerns. We are certain sure that our operations comply with the environmental regulation in force, as demonstrated by the monitoring and audit activities conducted to date.
In addition to our contributions to the Peruvian state through taxes, the mining canon and royalties, our commitment to the sustainable development of Espinar has been steadfast. This has been expressed by voluntary practices such as the Framework Agreement, whose operational aspects we are willing to review to improve their effectiveness. In this respect, we reaffirm our willingness to maintain an open relationship with provincial authorities, district mayors and the surrounding communities to be able to continue with the various social investment projects that the province needs.
We sincerely hope that the same good will that helped establish the Framework Agreement continues being the pivotal point to achieve new and better times for Espinar, and therefore, for Peru.
