Xstrata Copper is the fourth largest global copper producer and one of the world’s largest producers of smelter, refined and recycled copper, including from third party materials. In 2011, we produced 889,000 tonnes of mined copper in cathodes and concentrates.

Our headquarters are located in Brisbane, Australia and we operate in eight countries: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Peru, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and the US. We employ over 20,000 people and play an essential role in the communities in which we live and work, providing jobs, training, infrastructure, income for suppliers and social development.

The copper we produce is vital to our modern society and is used extensively in energy generation and distribution, building products and electronic equipment.
